It is most important
that couples get to see the band of their choice playing in a wedding setting
before they pay a booking deposit. Viewing a band in a pub or club is totally
different than viewing at a wedding. The audience is different, the set-list
for public performances is different, and the playing duration is shorter so
it is impossible to view the total package! The key to viewing a band at a wedding is
to check them out, at different stages, over the total duration of the bands
playing time. This can be up to three hours for some bands but it is worth
it. Why? 1.
You get to see
a cross-section of the total range of musical styles that the band can
perform! I know it’s a
long night but you will be able to make a very measured decision on whether
the band is really what you are looking for? Many hotels have very
comfortable foyer areas where you can sit and listen…you only need to “pop in
for a look”, on a few occasions, during the evening to view the band. 2.
Often bands
are told what style of music to play for the first hour or so! If you view the band for a 15 minute period during
the first hour you may be inclined to believe that this band is not for me
and make a rushed decision into believing that the band can’t perform the
musical styles of your choice! Please
remember that weddings are, believe it or not, often late for a combination
of reasons. In fact I can honestly say that 90% of the time when a bride asks
us to be ready to set-up at a certain time we are waiting at least an hour
after this agreed time. If a couple come to view a band and are sitting in
the bar for over an hour waiting for the band to start couples get fed up and
the seeds are sown for a “bad viewing experience”. The night you are going to
view your band make sure you have no other commitments and you are prepared
